Google is changing its ranking and I used ChatGPT to write about it.

I had recently read an article on Apple News about what was changing for google ranking and how its SEO is going to be more about content creation and interaction. Now, unfortunately for me, that is not what I’m good at. I’m firstly no wordsmith and it’s not a naturally or normal thing for me to do. So after reading the article it made me think about my own site and what I could do to improve my own ranking on google.

I checked my ranking through google console and realised that there were a few things that were wrong with my site. Things like keywords, alt text for images, missing links and pages not indexed. It was extremely insightful and slightly worrying. I had updated my website in 2022 and just assumed that the SEO would be fine. Not realising that you have to treat it like a car, oil, water tyre pressures etc. it’s the same for my website, I have to start thinking about constantly checking my pages, images etc and making sure that it’s up to date from an SEO perspective. I had also listened to a podcast about SEO and how you have to run that maintenance check every 6 months, of which I had not done. I removed bad links via google console, asked for pages to be reindexed etc and in roughly two weeks time I should be able to start seeing a difference.

So, we all know that AI has become quite a big thing in the past 6 - 12 months so I thought id ask ChatGPT for what would be the best keywords for my site. Within seconds it gave me insight to what iI should be using. I went through all my images, text fields etc and started to place my keywords for the type of work that I do. Following this maintenance I wanted to see how easy it would be to use ChatGPT to ‘write a blog’. Not that I would use this tool to write my content but it’s amazing to see how easy it is to actually do it. Below is an excerpt from ChatGPT and this is what I wrote in the field

Write a blog post about googles recent changes to SEO and blog writing to improve page positioning on google in a conversational style

Below is what it gave and I will start to take on some of the points below. As you can see, it’s not how I write but it’s scary how good this technology is. As the weeks and months go on I’ll be writing more about my exploits and experiences of what I do.

Much love
